Infant Room

In the Infants area we cater for 25 babies from 0 months to 2 years old. We separate this area into two rooms – non-walkers and walkers.

We understand that infants are totally dependent on others; therefore we provide a predictable, secure and calm environment for their growth and development.

We aim to provide a peaceful environment for the children that is physically safe, cognitively challenging and emotionally nurturing. Our space is designed to accommodate the child’s changing developmental needs and interests. We strive to provide a balance of activities that help children to progress in social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. 

Our aspirations for our tamariki are for them to grow up as competent and confident learners and communicators, secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society.

We provide open communication between parents and caregivers and we foster strong reciprocal relationships where parents feel confident leaving their child in our care.

Infants are exposed to different resources and play spaces. This allows them to explore inside and outside and develop their sense of awareness of the environment. Children are given opportunities for quiet time, sensory experiences, fresh air, and also the choice to watch or join in. Children in our care are made to feel safe and secure which enables them to make independent choices.
